Pseudosix :: Copout

Pseudosix pays homage to Northwestern compadres Modest Mouse with their jangly guitar riffs and multiple voice overdubs; but make no mistake, they’ve got a steez all their own. The Portland band serves it up pretty pessimistically with lyrics like “The very last thing I remember is this, standing on the surface of a hollow abyss”. But when these words are sung over a breezy acoustic progression, as they are in “Hollow Abyss,” the effect is disquieting. These dudes make creepy and catchy indie rock that you’ll be singing over and over in your head after a few listens.
