...new music from GRACE JONES, CSS, LITTLE BOOTS - and a MYSTERY TRACK
It's been a long, hot, sticky summer here in LA LA Land. Heatstroke is my excuse for not being here more often, but like Christmas in July, today's goodie-bag hopefully makes up for my MIA status.

Let's get things rolling with Grace Jones. Yes, THE Grace Jones. She's been practically incommunicado for nearly two decades, and her longtime fans (like myself) pretty much gave up on hearing any new music from the sometimes koo koo, influential, and unpredictable diva. No question that this pop sorceress and multimedia fashionista was an iconic figure in the late 70's and early to mid 80's.
Well, good news kids: Grace Jones will be releasing a brand new disc entitled Hurricane in October, with Brian Eno, Tricky, and her legendary Compass Point collaborators, Sly & Robbie and Wally Badarou making appearances on the self-produced disc. Ministry Of Sound will handle it in the UK, and PIAS will cover the release elsewhere, including America.
Jones debuted a new music video for the single "Corporate Cannibal" at London's Meltdown Festival last month. It's visually everything you'd expect from Grace.
Peep it below.
Give a listen to the new Grace, which actually sounds alot like the old Grace,
who was ahead of her time 25 years ago, so I guess this sounds...just...right.

Next up is CSS, who are readying the release of their sophomore disc, Donkey. Sub Pop will drop it next week, but like everything these days, lots of tracks are floating around on the internets. If only John McCain knew how to get online - 'cuz Grandpa is missing out on so much great new music.
The rollicking "Rat Is Dead (Rage)" is the official first single, and from the sounds of it, the Brazilian quintet seems to be aiming for a more fleshed-out, rock band thing. While I loved their debut, from what I've heard of the new stuff, they're sounding even tighter and slicker as both songwriters and performers. All I know, is that I sure loves me some Lovefoxxx.

And this is my favorite cut from Donkey

And here's London's Little Boots (aka Victoria Hesketh). Victoria formerly belted out the indie rock fuzz for Dead Disco, and she's now striking out on her own with a new project produced with Greg Kurstin (of The Bird & The Bee, and knob-twister for the likes of Kylie, Sia, Beck, & Flaming Lips).
The first taste we got of Little Boots was "Stuck On Repeat," an undulating nearly hypnotic club jam produced by Hot Chip's Joe Goddard. The original throbs like Giorgio Moroder meets Goldfrapp in a brothel.

The new Fake Blood remix ups the late-night fidget with less vocals and more dub.

And Victoria just revealed another new track, a techy but organic pop banger that has more shades of her work in Dead Disco. But no, it's not a cover of the Pink Floyd song.
Little Boots - Meddle (mp3)
Here's the newly-blonde Victoria chit-chatting and playing some bits live for PGTV
Victoria/Little Boots will make her 2nd appearance on "Neon Noise" this weekend
with me if you wanna tune in and hear even more of hew new record.
This Saturday, July 19th @ 12 Midnight (PST) on Indie 103.1 FM

Here's some brothers remixing some brothers on their brand new single.
Hint: There's no Osmonds, Robinsons, Everlys, Hansons or Jonas' to be found.
But if you listen closely, you can hear Jay Z playing tambourine in the background [snark]
I love You!!!
