Nas vs FOX gets televised...

Posted Thursday, July 10, 2008 @ 03:15 in Beat Reporter by Brandon Perkins

...on the internet. Nas had plenty to say about FOX News when he sat down with URB for issue 153. But people still aren't mentioning that “Got Yourself A Gun”, which often gets picked apart by FOX, samples the theme song from the ultra-violent, yet critically acclaimed and certifiably dope HBO series, The Sopranos. Something that surely Bill O'Reilly himself has on DVD.

 Thefted from eskay.

..everyone knows The Sopranos isn't real. Many rappers' careers live and die off of the myths they perpetuate in their rhymes. If they'd be willing to actually say that what they rap about isn't real, then it would all be fine. But you can't compare what's obviously fiction to something that, if exposed as fiction, could wreck their delicate careers and 'street credibility.' You speak as if hip-hop has absolutely NO responsibility. Yet you bring up a FICTIONAL TELEVISION SHOW. Sure, go ahead, blame it on Tony Soprano and Grand Theft Auto. I'm sure lots of people mistake those things for reality...unlike rap.
