HARD Summer Festival: A Primer
What is it about tracks with kids voices going on that makes them so irresistable? You could probably cite Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall" as the first and most popular in the pop/rock era, but in the two decades since, it seems as if the children have taken a back-seat in the mini-van and haven't been heard from that much. Maybe all the talented tots were too busy playing with their ball in a cup to concentrate on singing?
Well, of course, Justice changed all that last year with the ubiquitous "D.A.N.C.E." - making kiddie choruses sound uber hip again, and there seems to be more where that came from.

Our buddy, DJ Larry Tee (infamous in the Atlanta then New York club underground for producing RuPaul back in the day, and championing electroclash in its, ahem, infancy) dropped his charming "I Love U" about a month ago, and not only did he find one of the sweetest kiddie voices you'll ever hear, he's also got this whistling/acapella thing going on that sounds like Bobby McFerrin meets the "Andy Griffith" theme. No, really - but it works. So go jump on the bed so high, you hit the ceiling.

Then there's Sydney's PNAU, added to the mile-long list of Aussie electro-makers getting major buzz. What the HELL is in the water down under that's helping to spawn such a strong scene of hitmakers and remixers? Whatever it is, I like it and I drink it to get drunk. And you can't help but grin with glee when this next song is playing.
Here's the original version of Pnau's "Baby" - inside its colorfully day-clo, crazy, and kooky video.
Warning: Major use of tubas, slide-whistles, and evil, animated, dancing strawberries here.
There's a bunch of remixes, too - but fellow Aussie Sam La More (member of Tonite Only and actual co-writer and producer of Pnau's album) wins in the killer banger remix competition.

And since I know you crave more dancing fruit and a nod to Pac Man, here's the bonus video for their "Wild Strawberries" track:
