American G'Funk: Let the Jigga Remixes Rain

They wanna bring the '70s back...that's ok, that's where they made me at. Or not. Last week, DJ Skee announced his American Godfather mixtape (and we've been promised an exclusive or two off that jawn) and now DJ Benzi put us onto his take from Jay-Z's American Gangster.

Benzi and The Knocks present: American G'Funk will be available for free download on DJBenzi.com later this week (check back here for an update). The Knocks are Mr. J Patt and B-Roc and well worth checking out. We got their refix of "I Know," probably our least favorite track on Jay's original record with all its loungey, Neptunes-lite bullshit...but by sampling the snarly "Fame" from Bowie's catalog, The Knocks have given a proper stage for what was one of Jay's most impressive lyrical feats on the album.
