Last spring, El Michel’s Affair released Enter the 37th Chamber, a funky soul covers album of some of the Wu-Tang Clan’s fiercest cuts. Now, URB will be bringing you Enter the 38th Chamber, featuring some of today’s hottest MCs going off on the 37th instrumental cuts.

With Weezy’s Rebirth album facing more push-backs and song leaks (reportedly it’s set for February), it’s rather difficult to know for sure what will make the final cut on this rap-rock project… or how close to “done” it is. Today “Drop the World” found its way online with Weezy’s singing/rapping over crashing guitars, but it pales in comparison to Eminem’s ferocious flow.

Sarah Vaughn is best known for her work in big band settings. Of course as time progressed, it necessitated the singer to reassess the bands that she worked with. And at the dawning of the ‘70s Vaughn headed into the studio with an electrified group.
The results weren’t incredible, but her rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “Inner City Blues” is just short of remarkable. It’s all funk and perfect pitch, so find out…

I wouldn’t go so far as to call Bloody Gears a hardcore band, but its punk gets pretty nasty. There’s no thrash and nary a breakdown. But since the band hails from Boston, which has one of the deepest HC histories in the country, it’s understandable. Don’t expect the F.U.s or SSD, just some adept, quick step street punk. Oddly enough, though, the band’s singer comes off a bit like Greg Sage from the Wipers every once in a while.
Regardless, the group’s demo has been made available through its blog. So cop it and find out what Maximum Rock ‘n Roll was gushing about.
