It’s been quite sometime since we’ve heard from this musical maestro known as A.Chal. The purveyor of mind-blowing visuals and genre bending mixes shares with us an impressive new ensemble today titled “Paid in Full.” It opens up with the infamous Killa Cam quote from his acting debut on “Paid in Full” with a Trina sample that got the screw treatment quite nicely. In the meantime, it also appears his debut project “Ballroom Riots” is in its final stages so expect that soon and check out the latest mix to hold you down for now.
The Black Superstar has always been a paradox in American Culture. African-Americans, and many racialized ‘others’, have for a long time held this odd allure as naturally cool, while at the same time suffering the effects of a body that is instantly criminalized. This is a dangerous duality that can serve as simultaneous impetus and hindrance. This polarization drives an ill collaboration between yU and the mysterious outfit known as The Black Opera, hosted by Mello Music Group.
yU is most known for his work demolishing microphones as 1/3 of Diamond District, but he is adept behind the beat machine as well. What can we honestly say about the unique individual that encompasses the guise of Madteo, the Italian-born, Queens-based producer that has been brewing up a storm in the cavernous worlds of underground house and techno. His Bugler Gold Pt. 1 EP has been well-received is a further continuation of his exploratory and enigmatic source of sounds. With forthcoming material already in the pipeline, Madteo shares his musical tastes eloquently with URB with a mix entitled “Irradiance Cache Mix”, as well as a few words to highlight his influences, history and forthcoming material. Check out the Q&A, mix and tracklist after the jump. Oh and be sure to check him out with “Shake” Shakir tonight at TURRBOTAX. Details here.
