MY INTERVIEW WITH JODY WATLEY

Music -- As an original member of the group Shalamar, Jody Watley is celebrated for classic records such as “A Night To Remember” and “The Second Time Around.” In 1984 she embarked on a solo career that spawned numerous Top-10 Hits, including “Looking For a New Love” and “Friends” with rap icon Rakim. “Friends” was the first collaboration between an R&B artist and a rapper, sparking a phenomenon that is now a staple of urban music. She was recently featured in the "Black Issue" of Vogue Italia and owns an online music store full of new music. Read the exclusive interview at THE SPIZZY.

THE REAL 106 & PARK

Culture -- For the uninformed, 106th and Park is more than just an insufferable, junk-food video show on BET. It’s also the location of NYC’s Graffiti Hall of Fame in East Harlem, making the TV show’s name-jacking downright blasphemous. Every summer notable artists gather at the hallowed location to repaint the walls with new graf. The Spizzy’s resident sniper, Sundiata Acree, attended this year’s krylon makeover with his cannon in tow. Check our lil' gallery and soak in yesterday’s vibrant sights.

My Warped Normal Values

Culture -- After being in the music and entertainment industries for nearly a decade I’ve seen a lot and I have to be honest, all the interviews and all the parties have really affected my values. Some may even say my values are downright warped. The way in which they’re warped, however, is only when measured against the values many would assume I have thanks to my job...

LUNCH WITH FREEWAY & BIZZ AT HAWIIAN TROPIC ZONE (VIDEO)

Music -- Last week I attended a media luncheon for State Property’s FREEWAY and his young protege, BIZZ a.k.a. The Prince of Jersey. The event went down at one of my favorite places to handle business, Hawaiian Tropic Zone in Times Square. HTZ’s bikini-clad waitresses, colorful alcoholic beverages and pleasant climate-control makes it one of my go-to meeting spots. As I interviewed Bizz and Freeway, my big homie Clay Dog videotaped the action. Check it out, exclusively at THE SPIZZY...

GLORIA VELEZ AT BADA BING STRIP CLUB (Interview & sexy dance)

Culture -- When Glo shits on Vida Guerra, tosses a dart at Melyssa Ford and describes two-piecing Remy Ma, keep in mind that this interview took place circa 2007. Glo also speaks on her ex-boyfriend Joe Budden and baby-daddy Aaron Hall. Watch the video all the way until the end, when Ms. Velez gets her freak on with two raunchy strippers at the club. Artist Of The Week - Kaz-well

Music -- When I received my copy of Kaz-well’s Fish Outta Water last month it didn’t take more than a couple songs to get me feeling the vibe of it. The album was dope and I put “Krazy Glue” into rotation on my podcast. I didn’t, however, know anything, and I mean anything, about the man who made it. With Kaz-well being a fresh new face on the scene I did a little research on him and this week I caught up with him to find out more about his life, his music, and what his restaurateur parents think of his career path as an emcee.

Has Buzz Gone Bad?

Music -- Buzz has been a keyword in the music world, especially in Hip-Hop, for quite a while now. It’s supposed to indicate that there’s a lot of talk swirling around an artist and that he, or she, is on the verge of stardom. As we near the end of the decade, however, it seems that having buzz has almost become a negative thing as the majority of the artists that are buzzed about never even come close to living up to their hype. Today I’m going to take a look at why we might be better served by ignoring all the buzz.

CHICKS WITH GUNS: NUMERO UNO

Culture -- LOCKED & LOADED BY KHALID STRICKLAND a.k.a. BLACK PACINO. In the interest of multitasking I’ve found a way to satisfy both the horn dogs and the gun nuts. Sex and violence for the hell of it... the foundation of good ol’ American entertainment. Not only will you find a collection of dope chicks packin’ heat, there is also an extended version of the "Chicks Who Love Guns" video from Quentin Tarantino's flick, JACKIE BRWON.

Music -- Check out a couple of sweet tunes we found in our inbox a few weeks ago from Chicago based hip-hop artist JDP. They’re pretty slick, laced with an electric fuzz that’s all over the place lately. He’s hard at work on his debut album “Air Raid,” so keep your eye on this guy.

Hip Hop Horray: Look out for JDP’s Air Raid

Music -- JDP, representing Chicago, is an upcoming artist that combines elements of pop, club, and hip hop with a sharp delivery, crafting all these elements into a rich and textured tune that is danceable and provocative. It is refreshing to see an upcoming hip/hop artist with such humor and positivism in his lyrics. It is no longer about the bling, the ho’s and the murder and more about enjoying life. It is clear JDP is not in this business for the fame and fortune thats associated with today’s rappers but more so for the love for music.

AN INTERVIEW WITH VIDEO DIRECTOR YOLANDE GERALDS

Music -- WORDS BY KHALID STRICKLAND a.k.a. BLACK PACINO. Yolande Geralds has helmed videos for Trey Songz, Tracy Chapman, Estelle and most notably, Plies (a frequent collaborator with Geralds). “Want It, Need It” by Plies and Ashanti was one of Geralds’ biggest works as it enjoyed plenty of burn on the airwaves. Poised to make a return to cinema in an even higher capacity, Yolande Geralds is backed by a strong team who has aided her momentum.
