HARD Summer Festival: A Primer
Coachella '08: Recapping the Recaps
Every aspiring musician or producer knows a thing or two about lust-filled afternoons at Guitar Center, hanging out and handling gear that could one day, possibly, hopefully, leave with them in a shopping bag. If that wasn’t enough of a reason to swing through, the folks over at GC are providing an opportunity to mingle with some of our favorite producers and musicians. On February 28th at the Sunset Boulevard location in Los Angeles, Guitar Center held the “Sessions” event featuring The RZA. The event also featured unannounced guests Shavo Odajian (bass player from System of a Down) and Dhani Harrison (son of legendary Beatle, George Harrison). RZA and the good folks over at Roland unveiled the limited edition Roland RZA/Forat Custom MV-8800. The MV-8800 is a beast of a production machine, and if you up-and-coming beat makers want to get your hands on this limited edition model, you’re going to have to fork over $5,999. You will also have to be really lucky, since only eight of these units will be sold to the public. If that was not enough to make you give up the cash, the eight lucky consumers who do actually get to get their hand on one of these limited edition MV-8800, will get to sit down with RZA himself for a private tutorial of the machine and learn some of his techniques. Six grand for a peek into one of the 36 chambers? Definitely worth it.
