Through tendrils of smoke and a low-frequency bass vibration unique to The Do Lab, Los Angeles’ finest purveyors of the underground, PANTyRAiD made its L.A. debut.
The recently bi-coastal production duo PANTyRAiD, is composed of white hot Glitch Mob star Ooah along with MartyParty, the laser sharp South African known for his diverse production and high impact live sets.

People taking the initiative is always welcome in a time where being bland leads to being cool. So, when someone puts out a product on a culture that’s in a creative limbo, we get to see its ups, downs, and all-arounds. With The Electro Wars, director and creatvor Stephen Vasquez wanted to capture the essence that is electro culture–from the skimpy skirts to the tightest jeans and the most distorted sounds humanly possible to manipulate. With an upcoming screening during the 2010 Winter Music Conference in Miami, Stephen took time to elaborate on his film and his origins of being a electro “warrior.”

Day 5 Part 1
12:03 pm
As the days go by, the tone of these wake up calls gradually got more and more stern. The accents on the other end are constantly changing, but the message is the same in any language: GET THE [expletive] OUTTA HERE! Not before Milk came barging in yelling “Hey Zipperheads, good morning,” as he leaps and tackles Danny at the vending machine. Now that’s comradery if I’ve ever seen it. After being a part for a few hours, it was obvious that Milk missed us. Sleeping in the parking lot must have been highly exhilarating, but I equate the smile on Jason’s face to the fact that his precious iPhone survived the blistering cold, even though he neglected the cellular device and bolted from the van the previous night, launching his Apple product into the air until it landed on a bed of sleet, slush and snow to retire for the evening.
Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, VHS or Beta has returned with a new release set to spark a dance-craze across the nation. Unlike previous releases like breakout record Night on Fire and the anthemic Bring on the Comet, the latest release Feel it When You Know is a self-released digital single bundle. It’s the band’s first time acting as producers on their own record, and the trio plans to release a string of follow-up remixes from the likes of LA Riots, LuckyDate and Mark Verbos. Here Mark Pagley talks to URB about record labels, being an artist, and what’s up for early 2010. Plus, we hooked-up a free download of “Feel it When You Know (Sex Rehab Remix).”
From Street Boners and TV Carnage:
Amanda Blank is a rapstress from Philadelphia with whom you may already be familiar. She raps with the mouth of a pirate hooker and she’s a class act in person. Amanda is hot, but not so hot that you’d be afraid to kick it to her at last call. Hearing her rap about all of the ways she’s going to let you hit it is empowering; it gives you confidence knowing that some girls are really WAY MORE into the weird shit than some men. So with this in mind, I took her to San Francisco’s Good Vibrations, a dildo shop. …MORE
After 32 years as General Manager of Santa Monica College’s public radio station KCRW-89.9 FM and www.KCRW.com, Ruth Seymour has announced that she is retiring at the end of February. Former URB editor and current KCRW music director and Morning Becomes Eclectic host Jason Bently had this to say:
Ruth Seymour has been our fearless leader at KCRW from the beginning, so of course today’s announcement was hard to comprehend. Ruth is one of those personalities that you seldom come across in life – a real original. She built the station over 32 years with a strong vision and an instinct for talent into the highly regarded beacon for music, news, and culture we are today. All the while broadcasting from modest basement studios converted from classrooms at Santa Monica College, relying on countless volunteers, and of …
