Raised on cheap beer, bbq potato chips, Miami bass tapes, No Face songs, and Bomb Squad production, this self proclaimed Masta Ace "stan" has been on the blogosphere since 2005. With a love for the golden age classics and the "so far downtown, the devil going to call it underground" new school hip hop, Trav (WakeYourDaughterUp) has love for the hip hop culture that has become as much a part of his life as his suede shell toed Adidas on his feet. Promising to keep doing his own thing, look for much more of the same from someone who is going on 24 years of hip hop goodness.

Paten Locke – Waddup (Video)

Tres Recordings artist, Paten Locke comes back with another single from the super-dope LP, Super Ramen Rocketship. This time around, “Waddup” gets the video treatment and we can see Paten’s zany sense of humor come out. They don’t make videos much like this any more and Paten takes the 70’s funk approach, something reminiscent of Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Shimmy Shimmy Y’all”. The track itself is a perfect example of what to expect from P’s album, which is not too late to pick up.

Falside – “Fall, Stand The F*ck Up” (Video & MP3)

Up-and-coming producer Falside has joined forces with DJBooth.net to bring listeners his highly-anticipated seasonal beat tape, Fall, Stand the F*ck Up.The tape features 9 previously unreleased and untouched instrumentals by the Providence, Rhode Island native, ranging from aged boom bap for the seasoned veterans, to experimental electronica and dubstep for the more progressive audience. Also included on the project is The Creative Capital Beatsmith’s remix of Wiz Khalifa‘s Booth-approved single, “Say Yeah.” Falside is definitely one of those hip hop producers you need to be on the look out for as I have a feeling he is only going to get bigger, better and badder (bad meaning good….)

Blame One

Endurance

Released by Polish Pub Records

Blame One might be a newer name to some heads outside of the California scene, but he has been part of the west coast scene for quite some time. Blame's near classic Days Chasing Days from last year really made cats outside of the left coast scene discover the talent Blame possesses. After a short retirement, Blame One is back with his latest project, Endurance. Blame is back with his husky voice, armed with some quality beats, and gives you some food for thought, or sometimes, just making you ...

Blue Sky Black Death – Third Party (Review)

Blue Sky Black Death

Third Party

Released by Fake Four

The production duo of Kingston and Young God made a name for themselves in the liars of the hip hop underground, producing for notables such as Jean Grae, Cunninlynguists, Hell Razah and others. Even with that track record and the hip hop tag applied to them, the group has always had a more synth-pop feel to their sound than your average hip hop producer. It's with that in mind, the group releases it's most diverse and distant hip hop sounding album, Third Party. Picking up where 2008's Slow Burning Lights ...

Nezbeat – Fuschia (MP3)

Every now and then, I run across some hip hop that restores my faith in the art form. A few years back, when I was running my Wake Your Daughter Up blog, I was treated to a submission from a group out of Kansas by the name of Archetype. Their Bleed For Them album quickly became a favorite of mine and is somewhat of a slept on classic in my notebook. Of all the projects, mixtapes, EPs, songs, and just general music I have gotten over the years, I can honestly say that the album is my favorite piece of music ever submitted to me. I think that highly of Bleed For Them.
