It didn’t take an astrologist to discover this 12th Planet; Los Angeles born and raised John Dadzie aka 12th Planet has put in serious work this year, easily identified as one of America’s brightest shining dubstep dons on the scene. Currently on tour with Gaslamp Killer and Daedelus, 12th Planet has been melting faces both locally and globally, performing at almost every major US dance event this year, including Electric Daisy Carnival, Hard, Coachella, Nocturnal Wonderland and Winter Music Conference, while also headlining gigs in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
It’s hard to imagine doing anything for 11 years straight. Especially when considering the club scene in Los Angeles, where promoters sink or swim, genres live or die and venues change their names regularly just to attract new audiences. Yet somehow the Junglist Platoon crew has managed to perservere, cooking up a successful recipe for their drum and bass night, RESPECT, which has managed to feed fans a weekly feast of jungle music since they first opened its doors in 1999. Age ain’t nuthin but a number to these guys, who have pulled in packed houses for years, establishing RESPECT not only as a staple within the LA underground music scene, but also as a leader in the U.S. dnb movement. RESPECT has powered new talent to the surface while also headlining legendary forefathers–including everyone from Roni Size to Shy FX to Pendulum–who have all flown in from across the globe to rock out at the event.

Ever wonder what it would really be like to fall down a rabbit hole and end up in Wonderland? Then enter the Lucent Lamour experience, an interactive art and music festival that lures you deep into a world of fantasy, self-discovery and artistic expression, aimed to expand your mind and stimulate all of your senses (results, of course, depend on how much acid you’ve consumed). This visionary event takes place annually in Los Angeles on Valentines Day weekend and is presented by Do-Lab, the collective well-known for creating many of the dramatic installations and eccentric environments at festivals like Coachella and Burning Man. Thousands of attendees came out to witness live art creations, theatrical performances, carnival freaks and exotic beats….
This is the end of a decade we are closing in on, so sitting home is definitely not an option—especially since we have a whole weekend to recover (kudos to the party gods on that one).
