Dark Party – ‘Light Years’ (Review)

Dark Party

Light Years

Released by Old Tacoma Records and 1320 Records

Dark Party knows how to craft a fitting band name. Their jams beg to eclipse a dim and smoke filled dive with funky electro and hints of soul and hip-hop. Add cheap cocktails and an affinity for groovin' til you need to fan with your hand and the duo, consisting of Eliot Lipp and Leo 123, have lived up to their description of their first full length album. David Sitek Interview

Favored for his production and guitar playing in TV on the Radio as well as his deliciously warped mind, David Sitek is once again churning out more musical snacks. Only this time he’s included a melting pot of solid singers to his funk glitter party. Follow the quick talking charmer as he confabs on friendship contracts, buying his mom Jordans, and how unbalanced people inspire him. …MORE

Massive Attack Interview

British electro-hop pioneers Massive Attack have never failed to deliver conscience, dark, deep, sexy tunes wrapped warmly in their dense experimental vibe.  The duo’s fifth studio record Heligoland is no exception. However, they’ve kept us waiting for another taste of their live LED screen, political stream, pulse-groove for the past four years. Well we can now push past that yearn as the duo launch their nine-date U.S. tour tomorrow in Toronto. URB caught the band’s Grant “Daddy G” Marshall by phone from his basement in Bristol to chat new collaborations, ’70s influences, and money saving.
