Jamie Baratta aka KiD GReeN is a writer, artist, creative environmental consultant, and philanthropist with a B.A. from NYU currently living in downtown New York City. Her work thus far has primarily focused on environmental advocacy and education through the voice of the entertainment, music, and fashion industries. Over the course of the past three years she has established and lead environmental initiatives at two large corporations: ISLAND DEF JAM RECORDS and fashion house RALPH LAUREN RUGBY. In addition, she launched (in Spring of 2009) the first reader driven environmental lifestyle website geared towards the urban youth community and supported by the music industry: GreenJAR.net. She works to show the relevancy of being environmentally conscious to every sphere of life on a daily basis, "where being green doesn't mean losing your cool or $tyle."

The NBA Sets an Example & Donates Sneakers in an Effort to Curtail Waste Disposal 

LA/NY based sneaker company FLIGHT CLUB and Environmental lifestyle marketing company GREEN JAR have teamed up to COLLECT worn sneakers from some of the NBA’s most environmentally conscious teams in an effort to recycle product that would otherwise be disposed of as material waste. Mission “COLLECT” has thus far received the most generous and notable donations of used practice sneakers (worn sparingly) from the LOS ANGELES LAKERS (which includes a pair from none other than Kobe Bryant/Vivo) and the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS. All sneakers are currently being donated to Soles 4 Souls Haiti shoe project.

Flight Club Lafayette: Where Recycling is the New Cool

What if someone told you growing up that caring about the state of the environment was relevant to everyone? That recycling was cool? What if someone had told you that recycling is embedded in music, fashion, culture, and design? That the recycling of old beats, fabrics, traditions, and ideas will always serve to give birth and inspiration to new ones?

With this as the case, it is safe to say that Flight Club is the uncle of green cool. Well before eco-products became a marketing scheme, there was the reuse of worn product, which is exactly what they promote. Of course, not just any product, but exclusive, limited, and in-demand footwear that is no longer in production. And now thanks to the opening of their new consignment store in the heart of Soho (located on Lafayette and Spring), vintage apparel.
