The Parisians that constitute Turzi know their underground rock history – perhaps too well. The komische never comes off as slight, but there are moments when listeners will wonder where that Neu! cd got to. Surely, it’s kind of a backhanded compliment, but the music’s good, so it doesn’t really matter.

Since 2004 Jean-Christophe Le Saoût has been releasing Euro-styled hip hop for the masses. It’s important to note from whence these beats came and much in the same way that DJ Cam or Nightmares on Wax can be figured as non-residents of the States, Le Saoût – who works under the clever name of Wax Tailor – sits in roughly the same part of the genre.
