Review: Eliot Lipp – Shark Wolf Rabbit Snake

Usually when you’re told about an artist who blends genres to his advantage, it serves to explain the unexplainable by dissecting minute aspects of a homogenous whole, made of appropriated sounds by a producer who’s just trying to make it all work. The way that Eliot Lipp shares a glimpse of his sonic world on his new album “Shark Wolf Rabbit Snake” is quite the opposite of these haphazard attempts at boundary-blurring: he asserts each nod to his influences with confidence, showing us that he’s been around long enough to know what he likes and that he can pay respect to as well as stand up to the pioneers that came before him.

Stream 2 Singles from Disclosure’s New EP

Is there any better way to greet summer than with the announcement of a new Disclosure EP? We only have to wait ten more days until hearing the entirety of the “Faces EP” coming via Greco-Roman, but luckily we’ve got two of the four tracks to share in advance. First is EP opener “Boiling” featuring Sinead Harnett on vocals and the bright shuffle the duo has made their signature, incorporating bits of Detroit house, UK garage, 90s hip-hop and everything else. “What’s In Your Head” continues much in the same direction and shows us that the 20- and 17-year-old producers are far from exhausting the musical territory that they’re exploring. Below, check the streams for “Boiling” and “What’s In Your Head” as well as Disclosure’s FACT mix …

URB Exclusive Premiere: Sinistarr – Cetra EP

SINISTARR – CETRA (HNH007) by HIT AND HOPE

It’d be wrong to judge a book by its cover and to assume that Sinistarr was still on a drum & bass tip after knowing about his past releases with Metalheadz. His latest outing called “Cetra” is a step in a totally new direction, rather, three directions. Each of the three tracks carries a different vibe, from the deep future garage shuffle in Cetra to the more dnb-informed Bear the Mark or Runna’s nods to aspects of juke and bass music. Above, listen to the debut preview of the EP, which is coming in early June along with a remix from Detroit up-and-comer …

Watch: Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – American Dream Part II (Video)

Above, you can watch the latest video from Oxford’s Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs for “American Dream Part II” off his forthcoming debut album “Trouble,” due out on June 11th. In the video, you can see TEED looking a little less excited than what you might expect from someone wearing an albino peacock outfit and getting covered in glitter, but you can see the effect he typically has on a crowd. TEED will be playing a string of live dates this summer in support of “Trouble,” the first of which will be one week from now, next Wednesday at KOKO in London – click here for more information. You can pre-order “Trouble” here.
