Benefit Art Exhibit for Overton Loyd in LA

Overton believes art can transcend the borders created by society and cultural differences. Born in Detroit, Overton is renowned for his stage shows, art, costumes, animation and album art for the funk/rock group George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic. The “art philanthropist” received a Billboard award for “Best Use of Computer Graphics” for the video “Atomic Dog.”

Starting this Saturday, April 10th, Creative Channel Arts and Catch-a-Dream Entertainment are hosting a benefit art exhibit for Overton. With music from DJ Phyz Ed and Norwood Fisher of Fishbone, the event runs from 5-10 pm and boasts a full bar and the Hit + Run crew will be screening tee shirts. The exhibit will be open every Sunday in April.

New tracks from ZOMBY (MP3)

There are many things one could say about Zomby, and though the elusive producer seems to avoid live performances altogether, his musical output (aka: what matters most) is far from washed up. Three new tracks hit Soundcloud, and they are right here–no need for a game of hide and seek.

Lollapalooza 2010 Lineup with Soundgarden Headlining

Well, here’s Lolla’s attempt to hold down the hipsterness of Chicago this summer. It’s a strong lineup with tons of recognizable bands, but I’m not convinced it’s the festival of the summer. It seems relatively run-of-the mill, but I will say that New York’s Los Amigos Invisibles will be totally cool to see and they bring some much needed alternative flair.

Full lineup below. Tickets are $215 here and it takes place in Grant Park, Chicago on August 6-8.

First Track from Drake Album – “Fireworks” (Video)

Drake’s Thank Me Later has moved to a June 15th release date, but you can listen and watch the first track produced by Noah “40″ Shebib. Still pumped-up with bravado, October’s very own is talking about the same things (money, fame) and it doesn’t sound fresh. Clearly the expectations on the new album are through the roof, but sheesh, I’d rather listen to “Fear”–no 4th of July fireworks.

Additional Animal Collective Film Screenings and Q&A

ODDSAC is best described as an audio-visual album with an original score by Animal Collective. You may have seen some of the work by Danny Perez, the filmmaker, if you’ve been to a Panda Bear or Black Dice concert. Perez is known for his concert projections and the film is the product of a four-year-plus ongoing collaboration with the band. ODDSAC can be considered the band’s new album with all-new material that will not be released in any other format.
