Though it’s sometimes difficult to keep up with the uber-prolifict Kitsuné brand (in the last year alone the record-label-cum-fashion-design house has released a slew of mixes, full artist albums, remix singles, several apparel collaborations and we’ve not even mentioned their creative overtaking of the heritage brand Petit Bateau or upcoming presence at the Pitti Uomo fashion expo), the actualization of their various endeavors is always nothing short of spectacular.
None of Kitsuné’s high-wattage, bold creative energy was held back during the run of their North American “Autumn in America” tour. Having attended the L.A. date of the tour, we can tell you that the hands in the air, free spiritedness of the evening was symbolic of more than just the need to shake of the week’s stresses, it was also a real surrender to the sound from the audience and a symbol of something life affirming that electronica has begun to permiate within culture now that’s it is no longer just a staple for gay discos or niche Berlin techo-derived clubs.
Seeing as how we kept you up to date on the journey’s regional pit-stops, we thought it only fair to give you a bit of a wrap-up about the whole thing in pictures and also to tip our hats to a group of Parisian creatives who’ve become some of our closest and most cherished friends this year.
Supported by Kitsuné Tabloid creators The Twelves throughout its entire span, the tour missed its official kick-off in NYC just prior to Halloween due to the toll of Hurricane Sandy on the city, and later made up that Le Poisson Rouge date as a hurricane relief benefit at the same venue. After heading towards the Rio Grande and crossing south of the border the Club Night “Autumn in America” jaunt dipped into Mexico City and Monterrey, Mexico, eventually making its way all the way to the great white north during its Vancouver date, while passing through Miami, Denver, and finishing up in California in mid November.
Guests throughout the run of the tour included Yuksek, Fred Falke, Penguin Prison, Goldroom, and other excellent acts. As the tour progressed we gave you exclusive peeks and Q&A’s with is musical inspirers, a few of which you can see here, here, and here.
A rousing and truly inspiring success, the tour also marked the end of a year spent celebrating Kitsuné’s collaboration with Pernod absinthe, the results of which were a capsule apparel collection, a limited edition redesign of the distillery’s bottles, and a graphic campaign that stemmed from Kitsuné’s 14th new-artist compilation, a record that was also a celebration of their 10 years of musical output.
What a year for a such a brilliant brand. We wish them a happy holidays and look forward to more amazing output next year and in the next 10 as well. Check out some images from the tour below and enjoy great remixes and streams from artists that participated in Kitsuné Club Night “Autumn in America” Tour.
