G-funk is 20 years old, according to the timekeepers who mark Dr. Dre’s The Chronic as the starting point for the West Coast sound. One person who doesn’t seem to be doing any celebrating is Dre himself. There’s not even a sweet extended three-disc reissue on the horizon. But plenty of other folks are pleased with the milestone, including Peanut Butter Wolf, who spoke with Spin.com about the G-funk era, and dug out a ”total Dre Chronic-era ripoff” from the archives, which he produced in 1993 for Oakland rapper J-Wanz. You can also stream that track, “The Bay” (produced by Peanut Butter Wolf) over at Spin.
