Given that it’s home to such seminal acts as Diplo, The Roots and Josh Wink, Philadelphia doesn’t seem to really get the props it deserves. Maybe that’s because these diverse acts fail to congeal into a singular ”Philly Sound” for the town to hang it’s hat on. Another genre alive and well in the city of brotherly love is grime and dubstep, buoyed by Starkey and his Seclusiasis Studios crew.
With previous releases on top-shelf imprints like Ninja Tune and Planet-Mu, this bass mechanic just dropped his latest album, Orbits, on London-based Civil Music. “Street Rocker” dates back a bit farther, to 2011′s Space Traitor, Vol. 2 EP, but this new remix from the longhaired king of low-end, Bassnectar, is seriously fresh fruit.
