Amsterdam Dance Event start Wednesday and the over 3500 delegates (and tens of thousands of additional party people) are already heading to the Netherlands for the annual event known best to American’s as the WMC of Europe. And while it might be too late to book your flight, if you happen to find yourself in the Central European Timezone, these are the 12 event see wouldn’t dare miss.
WEDNESDAY
Jeff Mills Cine-Mix
@ EYE Film
Before diving directly into the late-night madness that is Amsterdam clubbing, why not warm up with this special performance by Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills at the brand new Film Museum in Amsterdam North. Using four turntables, mixmaster Mills will create a score for Fritz Lang’s silent classic Woman in the Moon. And now you can say you did something “cultural” in Europe.
Sven Weisemann – Exclusive Seated Piano Concert – A Journey Through All Elements OF Life
@ North Sea Jazz Club
Just a little more high-culture (pun sorta intended), this time a piano concert by German wünderkind Sven Weisemann. Performing on a Yamaha concert piano, Weisemann will bring his classical music background to Detroit and Chicago inspired deep house. We promise this is the last time you’ll be seated throughout the weekend.
Dekmantel ADE with Carl Craig, Nina Kravits, Radio Slave and More
@ MC Theater
Time to hit the dance floor, and big time Amsterdam promoters Dekmantel know exactly what makes the crowd move. How about a hefty helping of Detroit techno compliments of Carl Craig (performing a live set as 69) and Stacey Pullen, topped with some global house thanks to Russian beauty Nina Kravitz and London/Berlin heavyweight Radio Slave. But just to finish our cultured theme for Wednesady, there’s pianist Francesco Tristano, who brings his techno/jazz collision live.
