R & B revivalists Child Actor, the harmonic alchemy of Max Heath and cousin Sedgie Ogilvy, have just unleashed the lead video from their recently-released debut Partner. Much in the way How To Dress Well breathed life into a genre long forgotten in 2010, Child Actor have forged their own crystalline, uptempo path towards that iTunes playlist you put on when you’re about to get lucky. Heath, a multi-talented artist who sharpened his fangs with Toca and Anonymous Inc. (alongside Ceschi), brings forth production akin to the expansive cinematic backdrops of Blue Sky Black Death. His late night, zone-out rhythms mesh well with the Memoryhouse-esque dream pop stylings of Ogilvy, who shines brilliantly on “Getaway.”
You can catch the exclusive premiere of the Max Heath-directed clip for “Getaway” below and download the debut EP Partner free via Bandcamp as an appetizer for the full-length, tentatively titled Victory, set to drop on Fake Four sometime in the Fall. The duo is also heavily featured on the new Dark Time Sunshine record, release date TBA.
