It was one of the more complexing collaborations we’ve heard of in recent memory, even by the collab-happy Damon Albarn‘s standards. But his joining with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea in the just as bizarrely named Rocketjuice and The Moon is bearing some pretty sweet fruit as made evidence by the first song, “Hey Shooter,” with vocals by Erykah Badu.
The tune highlights the afrobeat rhythms of Nigerian drummer Tony Allen (who also plays in Albarn’s The Good, The Bad and the Queen), as well as Flea’s liquid funk bass. Throw in some noodely synth, presumably played by Albarn, and Badu’s soulful earthy vocals and you’ve got a winner. Now we’re excited about the self-titled Rocketjuice full-length dropping March 26. You can peep the full tracklist, if that’s your sort of thing, after the jump.
