Stones Throw Launches $10 Subscription Service

Stones Throw has announced the launching of a new subscription service, offering all of the label’s releases, plus a slew of subscriber-only specials for the low low price of just $10 per month. Subscribers will be treated to new releases by Homeboy Sandman, The Minimal Wave Tapes Vol. 2 and M.E.D.’s Classic Instrumentals, and can expect upcoming releases from J. Rocc, Jonwayne and Quakers—the new hip-hop project from Portishead’s Geoff Barrow.

Much in the same way Radiohead is one of the rare bands that can make millions with a pay-what-you-want album and Louie CK can more than break even with a $5 digitally distributed concert film, Stones Throw might be one of the few rarified labels with a fan base supportive enough to throw down 10 bones a month. If so, what are some other labels you’d pay for the same deal?
