Harold Hunter Foundation, named for late pro-skateboarder Harold Hunter, has been working hard to support NYC skaters this year, and they’re trying to raise $30,000 to expand their programs in 2012. The mission of the Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF) is to use skateboarding as a vehicle to provide inner-city youth with valuable life experiences that nurture individual creativity, resourcefulness and the development of life skills.
Like many inner-city youth, Harold struggled to find a positive outlet to express his emotions, creativity and boundless energy, and to cope with challenging situations at home and school. For Harold, skateboarding was that positive outlet, providing him with countless opportunities for personal and professional growth. We believe skateboarding can do the same for the youth the Foundation serves.
Since 2007, the HHF has encouraged and supported local NYC kids’ interest in skateboarding through camp scholarships, winter skate trips, the annual Harold Hunter Day skate jam, and school/career programs.
