Beneath the Reach of Light from Erez Horovitz on Vimeo.
Yellowbirds is the moniker for the latest musical exploits of Sam Cohen (songwriter, guitarist and vocalist in the psychedelic collective Apollo Sunshine.) Sam has put together a series of friggin’ incredible videos for the Yellowbirds debut album The Color featuring his own 10-week stop animation project, the live sketches of Michael Arthur, a dose of creative greatness with only $1,500, and other promises of visual delights. The videos have gotten some great attention from Pitchfork, NPR’s All Songs Considered, Stereogum, Paste and more.
For this video, Sam invites us inside a world where there’s no pain or passion or consequence. Shot for under $1,500 this is a wonderful example of what can be done with some heavy doses of creativity and elbow grease. The making of this involves borrowing a dingy from some random sailor and sneaking into a movie theatre at night to film…cool stuff. A couple of the guys from Twin Shadow play on this track.
