This week’s podcast comes from Berlin’s biggest electronic crossoever act, Modeselektor. The duo spent much of the summer touring America as part of the inagural Identity Festival, which brought all stripes of electronic music to the nation’s secondary markets. And how did this pair—who met in the heady ’90s heyday of Berlin’s techno renaissance—relate to the candy-colored kids of middle America? Quite well, as their mix of techno, breaks, hip-hop, crunk and indietronic (thanks to guest vocals by folks like Thom Yorke) won over the dancing trancing masses.

Modeselektor have new album out, Monkeytown, which features the afforementioned Radiohead singer, plus underground hip-hoppers Antipop Consortium and Busdriver, as well as frequent collaborator Apparat. This podcast mix previews a little bit of that material, but covers a lot more ground in the duo’s career. Check it out.
