We spent an undue amount of time in 2010 rocking out to Bethany Cosentino’s instant-retro-indie debut album as Best Coast, mostly because it reminded us equal parts 1990s Riot Grrl heyday, ’70s Runaways punk mischief, and ’60s Shangri-La’s pop perfection. But he is perhaps best known as sonic genius who gave Kanye’s Late Registration all of those amazing wall of sound flourishes, which makes us wonder if this new partnership between Costello and Brion might not lead to some serious golden-era Phil Spector brilliance.
