Who would have known that one of the main producers for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way actually wasn’t some dude from illuminati-filled Hollywood. DJ White Shadow hails from the town of house, Chicago. Not only does he live in Chicago but he is extremely well versed in Detroit techno and Chicago house. DJ White Shadow produced and co-wrote nine tracks including the majority of my favorites: “Government Hooker”, “Bloody Mary”, and also “Born This Way” and “The Edge Of Glory”. At first I wasn’t sure what impressed me the most: the fact that he introduced Lady Gaga to the sounds of Detroit and Chicago, or the fact that she single handedly invited him to be a producer after hearing one of his tapes.
Regardless, DJ White Shadow carries his own weight as a musician and luckily I asked him to create a mixtape inspired by The Book of Shadows, not to be mistaken by the Blair Witch 2: Book Of Shadows. DJ White Shadow is coming out with an EP titled I’m Killing Me. Typically I always leave y’all with just the mixtape but you should really listen to “Born In Detroit”.
