At times on the dance, it’s all about the boogie. That familiar bassline, that aura of nostalgia and the ever-present vibe that is funk. This is what FunkinEven excels at greatly; creating something familiar and fresh simultanesouly. A staple on the always-present Eglo Records (which features fellow producers Floating Points and ARP 101), he has solidified a sound that borders the genres of acid, funk, boogie and early Chicago house. It’s surely his own brand of music, which is dancefloor-worthy at any given time.
With tracks like “Heart Pound” and “Rolands Jam” explicity laying out the foundation of his production palette, he is one of the most intriguing and anticipated artists we could’ve picked out for an URB mix. We actually had this mix ages ago, but it got lost in the shuffle, almost forever (on a barely-living external hard drive); however with some proper digging (and a craving for analogue love), we brought it to this moment. The premiere of something special. Get your best dancing shoes on. Time to boogie.
