Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings presents the Owiny Sigoma Band “Doyoi Nyajo Nam” (Quantic Dub) released on the “Tafsiri Sound” EP a project that features selected songs from Owiny Sigoma Band’s self-titled album released earlier this year.
Tafsiri is the Swahili (Kenyan lingua franca) word for translation and interpretation in the linguistic and lyrical sense. Sauntering down the trail blazed by Theo Parrish – who reworked the song “Wires” with his signature sound – is another kindred spirit and Worldwide heavyweight – Quantic – who nudges “Doyoi Nyajo Nam” firmly, but sensitively, towards club dancefloors via a monstrous Afro-funky groove packing XXL drums and rib-rattling bass. The original Owiny jam has become a Worldwide favorite…Quantic’s rerub ups its status to “Summer Festival Anthem.”
The limited edition vinyl for Owiny Sigoma Band’s “Tafsiri Sound” EP is available now as well as digital outlets featuring remixes from Quantic, Jesse Hackett and Hello Skinny.
