Mayhem Mars EDC Movie Premier (Video)

Hollywood Blvd. was the site of considerable mayhem last night in a scene that recalled LA’s infamous Depeche Mode fan riot of 1990. The unrest took place surrounding a private invitation-only screening of the film The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience at Grumann’s Chinese Theater near the high-traffic corner of Hollywood and Highland.

According to regular URB contributor Charlie Amter, reporting for The Hollywood Reporter, the trouble began when DJ Kaskade tweeted that he would be performing a free DJ set before the film screening. Thousands of fans converged on the location, blocking traffic and forcing police to use force to clear the streets.

This isn’t the first time that very popular DJs have used social media to bring everyday life in SoCal to a halt. You might recall that Deadmau5 started his own mini-riot two years ago when he encourage fans to come to his appearance at the Apple Store in Santa Monica.

Hey L.A., way to show the authorities and media that we’re totally capable of gathering in public spaces for a positive common interest! Oh wait, I meant… Hey L.A. , thanks for fucking it up for everyone else that knows how to party responsibly and with out having to light shit on fire!
