They say there’s no time like the present. That’s clearly what the makers of the “This Is Not A Wugazi T-Shirt” had in mind when they hit the internet mere hours after the meme-generating Fugazi x Wu-Tang Clan mixtape, 13 Chambers, grabbed the blogosphere’s attention.

For those who don’t get the joke, Fugazi was famously against playing the typical music industry games. That meant the band sold their albums cheap ($8 to $11 was suggested retail), kept their concert prices to a minimum ($5 shows was the goal, although not always achievable), and refused to sell band merchandice. As a result, bootleggers took up the slack in the apparel market, most famously selling t-shirts that read “This Is Not A Fugazi T-Shirt.” Get it? Get it?
