There’s always mixed feelings when our favorite bands end up on Rhino Records. Yes, the label is undeniably one of the best catalog labels around, but something about hearing the sound of your youth on the imprint best known for repackaging “oldies” that reminds us how the sands of time slip away.
On June 6, Rhino plans to release Total: From Joy Division To New Order, a compilation of singles by the two groups from several decades ago. We’ll always prefer New Order’s Substance and Joy Division’s live BBC releases when it comes to compilations, but Total does offer something novel in “Hellbent,” and unreleased track from New Order’s ’90s period. That means more rock than their ’80s techno-pop heyday, complete withs some skronking guitar. It’s not an unearthed “Bizarre Love Triangle Pt.2,” but it’s still something fresh from one of our all-time favorite groups.

This compilation is very good because is covers both great bands from Joy Division and New order. Hellbent is a classic New order song with great music in it, whatever this band touches turns to gold, I still can’t wait for the WFTSC leftovers, if Hellbent sound this good which is a leftover from the WFTSC sessions just imagine how the other songs are going to sound, some of the left over tracks are called Sugarcane, Madonna and Brothers and sisters, I am very eager to listen to these songs and again Hellbent is a great song.
There is not an mp3 on this page.
Very good song, New Order is an awesome band, I hope that they get back together. They always make great music from Joy Division, New order, Electronic, Monaco, The other two, Bad Lieutenant and Freebass. They have created too much good music for the world to hear.
