One constant in dance music is that no matter what era you started going out, someone will always be there to tell you what it was like “back in the day.” This sentiment seemed pretty well handled on LCD Soundsystem’s first single, “Losing My Edge,” but if you weren’t around that summer of 2002, dancing at APT, then you might not get it (see what we mean.)
Friendly Fires‘ excellent new single, “Live Those Days Tonight” tackles the problem again, defiantly declaring “You claim your history is beyond a man like me. / But I live those days tonight.” So take that old dude who goes to bed before midnight in 2011. This semi-official video assembles footage from the UK rave heyday of the late-’80s and early-’90s, complete with some of the best gurn faces ever caught on VHS tape. And if you don’t know what gurning is, there’s always Google.![]()
