Just because LCD Soundsystem called it a day just last week doesn’t mean James Murphy is going to keep quiet. The group recorded a cover of Franz Ferdinand’s “Live Alone” for a limited edition five-song EP of FF covers by the like of Deborah Harry, Peaches, ESG and Stephin Merritt, set to be released on Record Store Day. The LCD number is an extended slow jam, with Murphy unveiling a new side of his voice, a crooning bariton, that plays well with the line, “In New York City, when I get in the taxi…” A continuing love affair with that city.
