If you ever wondered why so many songs get their debut on BBC Radio 1, maybe it’s because the DJs blather on endlessly over the tunes before dropping all sorts of “BBC onliiiiine” drops. Of course, the deep and sleepy late-night British accent is a whole lot better than shrill shouting on a lot of hip-hop MP3 leaks, but no one is going to hear these two new Burial tracks ripped from the radio and think “OK, I’m good.” You’re gonna need to get the real thing.
The pair of songs—Burial’s first solo material since 2007—were unveiled by Hyperdub honcho Kode9 during a late night BBC session, and come on the heals of a pair of tracks released last week with Four Tet and Thom Yorke. They maintain the enigmatic UK producers singular focus (ie- sound like the old stuff in all the best ways). The single comes out Monday March 28 on Hyperdub on vinyl and digital (exclusively through the Hyperdub website, sorry iTunes).
