Last week we got word of TRON: R3CONFIGUR3D, the remix album of Daft Punk’s score for the film TRON: Legacy by a bevvy of dance music’s top producers, including M83, Moby, Glitch Mob, Paul Oakenfold and others. Now we get to hear the first two selections from the compilation from Boys Noize and Kaskade. The German producer Boys Noize takes “End of the Line” and adds some basic dance floor beats and extended composition, while the typically house-y, trance-y Kaskade does a more surprising version with a real old-school electro flavor.
Daft Punk’s former manager and Ed Banger label head Busy P isn’t so hot on the whole remix project, taking to his blog on Coolcats.fr to gripe:
Dear Disney people,
You know i love you (we all do)
But Walt! Come on! How can you take my robots friends so far away from good taste ?
I am 100% sure the Daft boys were not involved in this side (sad) porject
Of course some of it is nice, and you know there are some of my friends on this CD.
But this is not enough!
A masterpiece like TRON soundtrack deserved the best and I am sad to discover the A&R at Disney records is apparently buying most of his electronic music in airports stores…
He goes on to offer up a remix by duo Goose, which was apparently rejected by the folks at Disney.
Luckily I found an exciting UNRELEASED (or even better, REJECTED!) remix from our Belgium cousins GOOSE. This should have been the kind of great re-interpretation of Daft Punk’s music featured on this compilation. enjoy!
