Moby, TCM, Shepard Fairey Fight Prop 8

Dance For Equality

With the 2010 elections a distant memory, one issue that has seemingly fallen out of public view is Prop 8, the anti-gay marriage act that passed in California on the same ballot that we elected the first black president (ironic). But the fight for marriage equality isn’t over, as even our man Obama has softened his stance on the issue by declaring part of DOMA unconstitutional.

Prop 8 itself is seemingly on it’s last leg. A Federal District Court judge ruled the act unconsitutional this past August, although the ruling is pending appeal. In the meantime, Moveon.org’s Civic Action and Courage campaign is helping to keep up the pressure to fight Prop 8 with Dance For Equality, an event this Wednesday featuring a myriad of stars from the dance music, art and movie world. DJs Moby, The Crystal Method, Shepard Fairey, DJ Dan and Jason Bentley will all perform at Avalon Hollywood at an event hosted by House star Lisa Edelstain, Oscar winning writer Paul Haggis and sexy sexy thing Heather Graham.
