Goodbye Guitar Hero – Goodbye DJ Hero (Video)

Yesterday, Activision has announced that they will discontinue production of the Guitar Hero series and DJ hero series.

Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing’s DJ Hero business unit and discontinue development on its DJ Hero game for 2011.These decisions are based on the desire to focus on the greatest opportunities that the company currently has to create the world’s best interactive entertainment experiences. The announcement of Guitar Hero being axed doesn’t really come to any surprised as their last few games (”Guitar Hero 5;” Warriors of Rock”) have not been as exciting as their earlier games (and yes, that’s even with the DLC); but I’m surprised that DJ Hero is being spun out of production. DJ Hero 2 held critical success and despite a few flaws, a new round of DJ Hero could have risen the bar on the music genre in video games.
