Erol Alkan has proven himself highly adept at crossing psychedelic guitars and sophisticated dance music beats through his Beyond the Wizard’s Sleeve project with Richard Norris (still one of our most listened to records from 2009). So it was an easy guess that Mr. Alkan might take a shot at the fuzzy guitars of Tame Impala. But the pleasent surprise comes when the disco beat kicks in and you realize that this song could have easily been a hit at Trash, Alkan’s defunct temple of indie-dance that pretty much defined the Bloc Party/LCD Soundsystem scene in the early ’00. Given his recent forrays into big room electro, we had almost forgotten where the guy is coming from.
