One of the first times I heard juke music I was in an apartment building in what we considered the slums of the neighborhood and I was only there accompanying my sister to some party. Just imagine a bunch of middle schoolers who were trying too hard pretty much juking in a dark and damp apartment in the middle of winter. Naturally watching a bunch of guys stand on a wall with girls grinding on their cocks while “what, let’s go to the mall” blasts through a home stereo system did not convince me and I thought the music was “ghetto” but like all things, somehow, someway people from across the world fell in love with this sound but later on I also did. Mainly because I found out there was so much better juke music out there. But in many ways too I found out that people reduce this music because they think it’s too out there but really all juke music-like most music scenes-just needs some nice visuals, a person and publication to believe in it and there you go a music revolution. So let’s hope more juke music I hear and find out about has as great a music video as this.
