The crossover between indie artist and hip-hop acts isn’t exactly new (think Kid Cudi on Letterman backed by Ratatat, or Bon Ivers performing back-up vocals for Kanye). But this raised our eyebrows. Rap star Drake has told BBC Radio 1 that he is working with Jamie XX on his second full-length, Take Care.

“The praises I’ll sing most is definitely The xx and Jamie, and we’re working on Take Care together. Jamie is probably one of the most exciting producers I’ve ever heard.”

It was previously announced that Drake has also been laying down tracks with Florence or Florence and the Machine. Jamie XX, for his part, has become the producer-du-jour, dropping facinating beat-centric remixes for Nosaj Thing, Adele, and a full album remix project with Gil-Scott Heron. Will be very interesting to see what he comes up with for Drake’s sensibility.
