Peder
Dirt & Gold
Known to most as DJ Peder, this Copenhagan born renaissance man gained notareity in the mid to late nineties as one third of the award winning hip-hop production trio The Prunes– remixing tracks for the likes of The Roots and The Beastie Boys among others.
Experimenting with an impressive pastiche of influences ranging from early jazz and blues to trip-hop and 1960s circa pop, Peder creates the savory sonic brew that listeners are sure to adore on his sophomore release Dirt & Gold. Stand out tracks include Lost Love City– a mid-tempo piece rapt with hypnotic drum rolls, enticing Fender Rhodes chord progressions, and the vocal stylings of Danish singer Oh Land. Equally noteworthy is the beautifully composed piano ballad Reverse Your Diamonds featuring Jacob Bellens, the kick-drum heavy album opener Meat is Murder, and Daylight–an early jazz influenced ballad where featured vocalist Signe Marie succesfully executes the vocal intricacies of jazz legend Billie Holiday.
A true testament to Peder’s vast creative imagination and unbridled artistic versatility, Dirt & Gold proved to be one of the most innovative and memorable releases of late.
