Update: According to lawyers for Electric Daisy Carnival promoter Insomniac, the lawsuit was filed against the city an county of Los Angeles, not the Coliseum Commision as reported.
The parents of Sasha Rodriquez, the 15-year-old girl who died this past summer after attending Electric Daisy Carnival, have filed a claim against the management of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum according to the LA Times. The family is seeking $5 million in damages.
The dance music event, held annually in Los Angeles, bested even more mainstream festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza this summer with a crowd of nearly 100,000 filling the football stadium and surrounding park over two days. But the death of Rodriguez ignited a shitstorm around large-scale rave-type events, prompting the Coliseum Commission to put a temporary ban on scheduling events to be held at the facility while the county formed a “Rave Task Force” to analyse the safety situation at such events.
The ban was eventually lifted following a full report from the Task Force, and several subsequent events at the Coliseum that went off with minimal problems. But the fresh rave stigma won’t go away that easily. In August, the Los Angeles Convention Center cancelled a scheduled appearance by megastar DJ Tiësto put on by EDC promoters Insomniac, siting safety and security issues steming from EDC. Then last month, California Assemblywoman Fiona Ma proposed a new law entitled the Anti-Raves Act of 2011. Ma subsequently pulled back from the bill, but promised to revisit the issue after attending an event herself.

yeah so first you don’t even supervise your kid or monitor where there going or what there doing and now you want to profit off of it? I can just imagine what kind of scumbag parents these people are.
spell check URB
Are parents no longer responsible for their children? Where is the responsibility for letting their daughter attend this event and educating her about the dangers of drugs?
