File this under “did not see it coming.” Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio/Maximum Balloon) has joined the creative team working on Jane’s Addiction’s next album, due out this spring. Sitek will be contributing as a songwriter and bass player, in effect taking the place of Duff McKagan, who spent the first half of 2010 as a member of Jane’s.“This process has been both inspiring and incredibly freeing,” said Jane’s guitarist Dave Navarro in an official statement from the band. “The events over the last year have proven themselves to be a necessary part of the journey as they have led us to our current creative team and direction.”
Wouldn’t it be great if the band members in Jane’s Addiction were walking advertisements against drug and alcohol abuse? Look at the message that could be presented to thousands and thousands of fans. The members of Jane’s Addiction could probably make a significant and a very positive impact on combating underage drinking in our country. Just my thoughts :-)
