2010 was undoubtedly the watershed year for this SoCal institution. This might have meant some inevitable backlash, but it also meant that EDC is now undoubtedly the largest and most exciting large-scale music event in the country. For every one person who wants to shut it down, there’s five people who wish they were there. And that is why this scene will never die.

COACHELLA

By their own admission, Coachella 2010 had it’s share of hitches, thanks mainly to the new ticketing system and 90k+ people on the Polo Grounds each day. But the fact is, when you’re so far ahead of the pack, even the “worst Coachella ever” is still the best weekend of the year.

ULTRA MUSIC FEST

Just more proof that dance music has quietly come back into dominance, this time without the mainstream media’s unwanted attention. The real test will come in 2011 when UMF strikes out on it’s own, without WMC.
