Ever since the Gossip got re-rubbed real nicely by Soulwax way back in 2006, we’ve been advocating for Beth Ditto to ditch the minimal scuzz rock approach of her very telented band, and go full on disco diva. She’s been slowly moving in that direction, appearing on Simian Mobile Disco’s excellent single “Cruel Intentions” last year, while the latest Gossip album (the mostly ignored 2009 effort Music For Men) took a hard right into mainstream dance pop territory.

Now Ditto is releasing a solo EP, powered by SMD’s James Ford and Jaz Shaw. Here’s a quick preview of the release scheduled for January, along with some of Ditto’s finest diva moments.
