Richie Hawtin has always been one to turn things up past 11. Whether it’s the sound level at one of his legendary parties, or the stark minimalism of his Plastikman project, dude don’t half step. So while plenty of artists have released fun little doo-dads for iPhone and iPad to promote their music, the Berlin-via-Detroit/Windsor producer has gone all in with the new Liine series of Apps. The premise is easy, collect a bunch of loops and pieces that make up current and archival tracks from Hawtin and friends. Offer up a smart remix platform, complete with custom effects to further define each individual artists, then let the gets go crazy on the touchscreen.
Liine launches with “Remiix: Plastikman Replikants” a selection of vintage Plastikman tracks, as well as some fresh Plastikman remixes, broken down and ready for reassembly. From the press release:
With this first in the Remiix series, Richie Hawtin offers loops and parts from classic PLASTIKMAN tracks, from remixes specially commissioned for Replikants (part of the extensive ARKIVES package) as well as bits and pieces discovered in the hidden depths of his studio. This is the user’s opportunity to combine things that were never intended to be combined and to twist things into even deeper, darker, stranger places.
Liine launches in December in conjunction with Hawtin’s sprawling Arkives set, looking back on nearly two decades of Platikman.

Good info! I saw Richie at Creamfields in Buenos aires!! Thanks
