Leo Zero ‘Disconnect’ (Review)

Leo Zero

Disconnect

Released by Strut

The famed UK  producer Leo Zero mixes some of his favorite obscure cuts on Disconnect--the first installment of many fourth coming compilations slated for release on Strut, a subsidiary of the K7 Records imprint . Known world wide under the moniker Elstob, Leo Zero made a name for himself over fifteen years ago on the British party scene as a dj with a flair for rare music selection. In 2010, Leo Zero remains  one of the most in demand European producers, djs, and remixers of our time.

Littered with infectious jungle breaks, wildly percussive afro-beat, and hypnotic island rhythms, Disconnect proves to be a near perfect hour long melange` of rare jams by the likes of  Essential Logic, Richy B. Melodia, Wunmi, and other engaging voices from the global eclectic music scene. Stand out selections include the sensual dub reggae cut “Ghetto Life” by The Dread Filmstone Sound and the soulful disco joint “Sore Lip” by Ritual.

With the exception of a few seemingly misplaced post punk and folk pieces, the Disconnect compilation is a trustworthy choice for your favorite summer party or private home based get together. This savory release by one of the worlds most left-field selectors is not to be missed.
